HOUSTON — Allen Wayne Porter’s rape conviction was officially dismissed Tuesday in the Harris County 248th court Tuesday, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Porter was convicted of aggravated sexual assault and sentenced to life in prison in 1990. His repeated pleas of innocence fell on deaf ears until last year, when he sent a letter to Harris County District Attorney Pat Lykos.
One of the original defendants in the case confessed that Porter was not present during the attack.
He was freed in July of 2010. The case was finalized on Tuesday.
