A 50-year-old Over-the-Rhine man is being held in the Hamilton County Jail on $10,000 bail, accused of threatening an Arizona-like shooting attack, seemingly referring to the shooting rampage at that left six people dead and wounded over a dozen others, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
William Hayward was charged Thursday with one count of making terroristic threats – a rarely used charge that carries up to five years in prison – at the Veterans Health Administration office on Vine Street in Corryville.
That office is the part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that helps people get medical assistance.
Court records show Hayward told a worker at the agency, “I understand why that guy did what he did in Arizona,” and “What are you smiling about? That could happen here.”
