.MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – The remains of Sally Ordinario-Villanueva arrived around noon on Friday at their home in Echague, Isabela province.
It was a heartbreaking moment for Villanueva’s husband, Hilarion, and their 2 children, as the casket was lowered from the car and then carried inside their home.
Friends and family of Villanueva also flocked to their house to pay their last respect.
Villanueva was imprisoned for over 2 years and eventually executed last March 30 in Xiamen, China for drug trafficking.
A traditional padasal will be organized on Friday afternoon for Villanueva.
The family said she will be in Echague for 2 days, then her body will be brought to Jones, Isabela where her husband and in-laws live.
Villanueva will also be buried there, although the family has yet to decide on the specific date of the funeral.
Meanwhile, Vice President Jejomar Binay also traveled to Echague to visit Villanueva’s wake.
He said he still firmly believes that Villanueva did not know that she was carrying drugs to China. He also expressed his deepest condolences to her family.
Binay likewise pledged to support the schooling of Princess Villanueva, who recently graduated from elementary as a salutatorian.
